#PostCircle

I love stationery, there I said it! I always have, from collecting animal shaped rubbers as a child, always #Postcircleneeding a new pencil case for school and loving writing paper. A big part of Butterfly Crafts Handmade Emporium is all about sending cards and notes to people and I just love it.

So back in late 2013 when I read about #PostCircle over on Miss Beatrix’s blog I knew I wanted to join in – what a great excuse for buying or making lovely notecards and writing paper. I also wanted to join as a way to bring me out of my shell a little as I find it really hard to meet new people and make new friends and so what a great way to ‘meet’ people from different places.

#Postcircle in a nutshell is like a Penpal group where you are assigned a group with another five people and you all write to each other. Simple. There is a waiting list to join groups but as new people sign up groups can be assigned, you can find out more about #Postcircle and the snail mail revolution here.

This year I left my original #Postcircle group as people just didn’t seem to write anymore but I requested to join another group and so far I am really liking getting to know my fellow Sanderlings – each group is given the name of an animal.

There is something very nice about finding a pretty envelope amongst the usual post of bills, white envelopes or sales leaflets, and its great to sit down quietly and read about what your new friends are getting up to around the country, and the world, one member of our group is from Poland.

#Postcircle turned two this week and it has certainly gained momentum on both Twitter and Instagram with people using the #Postcircle hashtag.  You can search and see great photos of pretty stationery and everyone getting so excited about letter writing again – something many people stop doing nowadays.

If you like stationery as much as I do, keep an eye out on the blog in the March as there will be a fun stationery giveaway!

  1. Glad your new #Postcircle group is going well! Joining #Postcircle last year was one of the best decisions I’ve made 🙂 – and also one of the worst, according to my bank balance at the end of every month! I just can’t say no to pretty paper and washi!
